<image:caption>Some projects are a long time coming. Our director Jake and his childhood best friend David, founder of Kett &#x26; Co, had been talking about this one for years. The chance to design and build David&#x27;s first family home together. Combining their skills across architecture and construction, they reimagined a 1950s Belmont cottage into a modern home structured around family life, functional living and weekend entertaining.</image:caption>

Angled lining boards follow the pitch of the ceiling, drawing light from one end to the other. Faithful to the cottage&#x27;s original character from the street, the home opens into something entirely present.</image:caption>

No extensions, no extra meterage, just a complete rethink of what was already there. The brief centred on open plan living, connection across levels and a home that felt breezy, light-filled and effortless to move through.<br />

                                            <image:caption>Situated within the growing Banksia Drive creative precinct in Byron Bay, the Business &#x26; Pleasure Co fit-out makes the most of its industrial warehouse bones. The approach was elemental and minimal, softening the space with curved features while keeping merchandising and storage considerations central to the day to day. Raw architecture, considered restraint, and a retail environment that lets the products take centre stage.</image:caption>

                                            <image:caption>A thoughtful expansion of an already exceptional hinterland property. The existing stone structure set the tone, raw and rooted in the hinterland landscape. The brief was to expand the home&#x27;s program without losing that character. New ensuited bedrooms, a wellness studio, outdoor entertaining and a pool designed to capture the afternoon sun. Each addition strategically placed to work with the contours of the site, drawing the most from the land without fighting it.<br />
<br />
Dark timber cladding was introduced through the new additions, a deliberate counterpoint to the existing stone. The master bedroom cantilevers over the pool, its timber screens designed to open and frame the hinterland views. Indoor-outdoor entertaining was designed for the conditions of Byron Bay, robust, sheltered and built to handle the heavy rains of summer without compromise.</image:caption>
